The coronavirus global pandemic has impacted Richmond and surrounding communities in many ways, with undoubtedly more to come. Here’s a list of closings and cancellations that have been announced (this list will be updated):
— Birthright: Will close at 1:30 p.m. March 17 with plans to reopen at 10:30 a.m. April 13.
— Community Food Pantry: The board has decided to suspend operations from March 16-27. They are tentatively scheduled to reopen March 30.
— Derik Nelson & Family show: Performance at Civic Hall Performing Arts Center, postponed. Tickets should be kept because the show will be rescheduled for a later date.
— Town of Dublin: Town hall will be closed to the public until further notice. Payments can be mailed, placed in the drop box or submitted online at dublinin.org. Phone calls will continue to be answered and service calls made as needed.
— Fostering the Future: If you planned to attend the March 14 event, contact Candra Ramsey at (765) 960-0988 to schedule an individual meeting.
— InFocus Candidate Forums: The primary election preview shows done in collaboration with WCTV and Hometown Media Group are postponed. New dates have not been set yet.
— Ivy Tech Community College: Restart of classes delayed until March 23 and will be delivered virtually March 23-April 5.
— Laundry Project: All events have been canceled until further notice.
— Morrisson-Reeves Library: The library is open and offering material checkout and regular library services, but all events, classes, programs and use of public meeting rooms are canceled starting March 21.
— Reid Health: Both Medical Monday and Wellness Wednesdays in Richmond and Connersville will be canceled in April.
— Richmond Civic Theatre: “Charlotte’s Web” by the Stage One Youth Theatre scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, canceled.
— Richmond High School Job Fair: Event scheduled for April 2 is canceled.
— Richmond Symphony Orchestra: Close to Home concert at Seton Catholic High School Saturday, canceled. Tickets may be exchanged for a ticket for the 2020-21 RSO season.
— Rural Urban Banquet: Event scheduled for March 17 is canceled.
— Severe Weather Awareness and Spotter class: The Wayne County Emergency Management-sponsored class scheduled for March 19, canceled.
— Wayne County State of the Child 2020: The Indiana Youth Institute event at Reid Health scheduled for March 18 has been postponed. It will be rescheduled at a later date.
— Whitewater Valley Pro Bono Commission: The group is rescheduling its Art for Justice event. Ticket purchases/sponsorships will carry forward to the new date. Pro bono legal services for the community will continue.
— Women’s Fund: The Women’s Fund lunch scheduled for Saturday, canceled. Those with tickets may pick up boxed meals between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday at either Radford’s location, 81 S. 37th St. or 16 S.W. 18th St. The art auction will now be online. Bidding information is available at www.tristatebid.com.
SCHOOLS
— Centerville-Abington Community Schools: School closed from Monday, March 16 to Friday, April 10. Buildings will reopen Monday, April 13. There will be no eLearning days, and the missed time will not be made up.
— Community Christian School: School closed from Monday, March 16 to Friday, April 10. Buildings will reopen Monday, April 13.
— Earlham College: Face-to-face classes will be suspended at the end of the day on Friday, March 13, the final day of classes before spring break. All campus events, including athletics and college-sponsored student travel, have been canceled.
— IU East: Face-to-face classes are suspended for two weeks after spring break, which will be March 15-22. Classes will be taught remotely with a tentative plan for students to return to campus April 6.
— Ivy Tech Community College: The continuation of current courses and the start of new eight-week courses have been delayed until March 23. At that point, the college will deliver all courses virtually through April 5. Ivy Tech will remain open to provide student and business office assistance, including the ability for students to meet with advisors, admissions and financial aid, to use computers and have access to faculty as needed.
— Nettle Creek Schools: School closed from Monday, March 16 to Friday, April 10. Buildings will reopen Monday, April 13. Week of March 16 will be eLearning days as will Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24. Wednesday, March 25 through Friday, April 3 is spring break. There will be no eLearning days the week of April 6.
— Northeastern Wayne Schools: School closed from Monday, March 16 to Friday, April 10. Buildings will reopen Monday, April 13. Week of March 16 there will be no eLearning days. Week of March 23 will be spring break. Weeks of March 30 and April 6 will be eLearning days.
— Richmond Community Schools: School closed from Monday, March 16 to Friday, April 10. Buildings will reopen Monday, April 13. There will be no eLearning days, and the missed time will not be made up.
— Richmond Friends School: School closed from Monday, March 16 to Friday, April 10. Buildings will reopen Monday, April 13.
— Seton Catholic Schools: School closed from Monday, March 16 to Friday, April 10. Buildings will reopen Monday, April 13.
— The Excel Center – Richmond: School closed, beginning Friday, March 13 until further notice. No finals for Term 4.
— Western Wayne Schools: School closed from Monday, March 16 to Friday, April 10. Buildings will reopen Monday, April 13. There will be no eLearning days, and the missed time will not be made up.
