COPS have shut down one of Scotland’s biggest street valium factories at a village industrial site.
Officers busted the site in Salsburgh, Lanarkshire, which they say was capable of producing 180,000 so-called blue plague pills every hour.
Cops got a search warrant for the industrial site at Springfield Park in September after gathering intelligence.
The force said it housed a large scale production site of etizolam – also known as street valium.
The drug is said to have played a role in the majority of Scotland’s 1339 drug deaths in 2020.
In a report given to councillors, Police Scotland stated: “The location housed a commercial site being used for the large scale production of specifically etizolam.
“The location was subjected to a prolonged forensic examination in an effort to secure evidence.
“It was capable of producing 180,000 tablets per hour. This has been the most significant recovery of its kind in Scotland.”
