The Warehouse at 520 West 20th Street, designed by Morris Adjmi Construction is nearly finished on 520 West 20th Street, aka The Warehouse, a mixed-use office building in West Chelsea. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Elijah Equities, the project involves the construction of a multi-story steel-framed expansion above a repurposed brick industrial building. Omnibuild is in charge of the construction and the assembly of the edifice, which is located between West 19th Street and West 20th Street, steps away from the High Line.
Photographs from Tectonic show the wide northern and narrow eastern elevations nearly finished. The glass railings, large window panels, and coverings for the mechanical equipment above each of the two egress cores all appear to be installed. Sidewalk scaffolding still remains, but will soon be dismantled. Interior work also appears to be progressing on the top two levels.

The Warehouse’s renovated 50-foot-tall brick podium will contain ground-floor retail and gallery spaces up to the fourth story. A landscaped 18,000-square-foot outdoor terrace for office workers will sit on the fifth floor. Above that is the modern cantilevering superstructure, whose sleek, dark façade creates a striking contrast in color and materiality with the rustic walls below. The total architectural height is 105 feet tall, more than enough to give tenants on the top levels views of the surrounding neighborhood and the nearby High Line. The project will yield 80,000 square feet of commercial space.
Work on the Warehouse should likely finish by the end of the 2020.
