CM conducts surprise inspection to paddy procurement centres

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday conducted a surprise inspection of paddy procurement centres at Jalbandha (Khairagarh) and village Birejhar (Durg) while returning from Rajnandgaon.

He inspected the arrangements and interacted with farmers at both the centres, an official communication said.

On his queries, farmers said the system at the procurement centre is better. They are selling their produce through the gunny sacks provided by the centre and in their own.

The farmers pointed out that this year they had used vermi-compost as fertilizer. It helped in better production and earning.

Birejhar village farmer Ishwar Lal Dhangar said the crop field soil has improved. He had higher production of paddy as compared to last year.

Other farmers said that with the increase in the number of new procurement centres, the waiting time has been cut. The payment is transferred to the bank account directly, immediately after the procurement.

The Birejhar procurement centre covers four villages — Kharra, Hasda, Chikla and Birejhar. A total of 10,716 quintals of paddy have been procured and 3,000 quintals have been transported.
