City of Chico breaks silence on pallet shelter | Local

CHICO, Calif. – The City of Chico broke its silence on the homeless settlement agreement that was reached last week at a news conference Tuesday morning.

The city says it expects the pallet shelter to be finished in three to five weeks. That means 345 beds within the pallet shelter.

Mayor Andrew Coolidge says there will be enough beds to house everyone at Comanche Creek.

Coolidge added the city cannot start enforcement of illegal camping until the shelter is built.

The City of Chico will use $1.7 million from the American Rescue Plan from the county to fund the project.
