TROY – Do you smell that? That’s cheesecake. That’s right, The Cheesecake Factory is coming to downtown Troy, filling the vacant space that once held La Piazza. The location is America’s 221’st full-sized Cheesecake Factory restaurant, and is expected to open in late November.
Cheesecake Enterprises International announced plans to open The Factory through a public Troy City Council Meeting, held via Zoom. Unfortunately, the meeting host forgot to unlock the meeting, leaving most public attendees stranded in the waiting room.
Many locals are frustrated over news of The Factory, as there has never been a nationwide chain restaurant in Troy’s downtown square.
“That property is special. La Piazza was an absolute staple of downtown Troy businesses, with an incredible patio and view of the square. The scenery really distracted from the mediocre food and countless health code violations. Now, we’re all just going to be a bunch of cheesecake-eating losers,” said an anonymous local.
City planners are expecting The Cheesecake Factory to draw upper-class millennials, bringing much-needed foot traffic to businesses in downtown Troy. Younger adults across the county are extremely excited about the big news.
“The Cheesecake Factory kind of reminds me of going to the mall or something. There was always a Factory nearby, and we’d end up there like ‘holy shit everybody just spent a ton of money and now we’re here.’ I can’t wait to feel that in my hometown,” said Kandace Shmedien of Troy.
Troy’s Cheesecake Factory location will be offering a Spicy Strawberry Donut Cheesecake flavor, as made famous by the Troy High School Marching Band. This franchised location will also be the first of its name to serve the Creamy Velveeta Cheesecake, made with 80% processed cheese and 20% neon orange food coloring.
