Chandigarh Administration imposes stock-holding limit on onions : The Tribune India

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, November 6

To check the rising prices of onion, the UT Administration today imposed stock-holding limit on onions till December 31.

In a notification, the Food Supplies and Consumer Affair Department states that dealers, including wholesalers, distributing agents, selling agents or such persons can stock onion up to 25 metric tonnes (MT) while retailers can store up to 5 MT.

The order, however, will not be applicable on government agencies possessing onion on behalf of the government. Any importer, being a wholesaler or retailer or dealer, will be exempted for the imported stock of onions.
