Chances of finding two people alive under rubble at Norilsk factory slim, source says – Emergencies

MOSCOW, February 20. /TASS/. The chances of finding alive two people who are under the rubble after a collapse at a factory in Russia’s Norilsk are slim, a source in emergency services told TASS on Saturday.

“Work at the site of the collapse continues. [The chances] of finding the people who are under the rubble alive are minimal,” the source said.

Earlier, a gallery collapsed at one of the plant’s sections. A total of eight people were working there at the time of the collapse. Four of them were rescued, two managed to get out on their own, two remain unaccounted for. Five people were taken to hospitals.

A criminal case has been opened on charges of safety rules violations that resulted in the death of two and more persons. The Norilsk Prosecutor’s Office launched a probe into compliance with safety rules at the factory.
