Catering Insight – Retigo factory overhaul slashes carbon emissions

Czech Republic-based combi oven manufacturer, Retigo, has been focusing on environmental sustainability at its Rožnov pod Radhoštěm-based production headquarters in 2019.

The firm has retired its old Trumpf Trumatic L3030 laser cutting machine which used CO₂-emitting technologies generating a total rated power of 63.2kW for cutting stainless steel plates.

This has now been replaced at the factory with a new fibre-based laser appliance with a total rated power of 28kW.

Plus the manufacturer has modernised the lights in its production halls. The original two-tube fluorescent lamps had a total rated power of 41.44kW, and were replaced with LED tubes with a total power of 15.984kW.

Retigo calculates that these steps have saved the company fuel and power in the building amounting to 1,262.7 GJ/year (57.25%) and 350.7 MWh/year.

The lowered fuel and power consumption should have also significantly decreased its share of global CO₂ emissions.
