Cannabis factory uncovered after blaze at Coventry house

A cannabis factory was uncovered after 999 vehicles responded to a large fire at a Coventry house in the early hours today. Fire crews from Coventry, Foleshill and Binley were involved in tackling the blaze within the roof of a terraced house in Melbourne Road, Spon End.

A swift response enabled firefighters to prevent the flames from spreading to neighbouring properties after the alarm was initially raised at around 3.30am. The cannabis plants that remained in tact were reportedly removed from the property through the roof this morning.

No arrests have been made and the house has been boarded up, West Midlands Police said. The cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police on 101. Alternatively, information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
