PORTSMOUTH – For decades, the Button Factory’s Open Studios have marked the beginning of the holiday season, and holiday shopping. For 2020, the Open Studios will go “virtual” with a weekend event dubbed The Button Factory & Friends: Virtual Open Studios.
Beginning on Friday, Dec. 4 at 4 p.m., the virtual event site opens to the public, and will remain accessible through Sunday, Dec. 6. On Saturday, Dec. 5, the “live studio” portion of the event takes place from noon to 4 p.m. Guests to the event will have the opportunity to visit and interact with studios that are open (max. 5 per studio or booth at any time).
To access the event, register, no charge, as a guest by going to: https://my.boothcentral.com/v/events/button-factory-artists-and-friends-a-virtual-open-studio
Local or Seacoast artists and craftspeople can access application information at: https://www.proportsmouth.org/openstudio.cfm
The virtual event is the result of a collaboration between the Button Factory and Pro Portsmouth.
The Button Factory Studios is an artists’ community of artists and crafts makers housed in a repurposed factory building. The original 1895 brick building made buttons for shoes and apparel. Now it is renown as studios for producing art. The Open Studio held each December has become a Portsmouth holiday tradition.
Pro Portsmouth is a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating and sustaining the vitality of Portsmouth’s arts, culture and history through events and community collaboration. Programming includes Children’s Day, Market Square Day, Summer in the Street, and First Night Portsmouth.
