A long-time local business owner says calling the provincial procurement process “broken” is too soft a term.
Lyndon Quinton is the president and owner of Shanahan’s Security, a company that has operated locally for decades.
He says Eastern Health recently issued a tender for security and parking, but the criteria set out in the tender disqualifies him.
They have to demonstrate that they have three current contracts providing security to health care organizations and must have at least ten years of experience providing similar service to multi-site health care organizations of similar complexity.
That, says Quinton, effectively shuts them out of the bidding process.
Another established business owner tells VOCM News he’s never seen the procurement process so bad.
