SAN ANGELO — Work has begun on a Burlington Coat Factory in San Angelo, a San Angelo city official and contract workers at the site confirmed.
Around 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2020, the register and parts of the checkout stands from Hastings Entertainment sat in the parking lot at 4238 Sunset Drive. Construction workers cleared out the former Hastings Entertainment building, which closed Oct. 26, 2016.
Workers confirmed the building would become a Burlington Coat Factory and said a sign would be hung announcing the new business soon.
The Standard-Times reached out to officials at Burlington’s corporate office on when the new store might open in San Angelo but have yet to receive a response as of 5:15 p.m., Friday.
The store hasn’t made an official announcement online, but an investors’ report published in late August noted the company was planning on opening 62 new stores in 2020.

Two additional stores slated to open this year were shifted to 2021. In spring 2018, Burlington opened a 40,000 square foot store in Abilene at Abilene Village shopping center.
