Burger Shop Closes Amid Rising Food Costs, Supply Chain Issues

ST. CHARLES, IL — The rising cost of food and supply chain issues has led one St. Charles restaurant to shut its doors.

The Burger Shop, which opened in the Foxfield Commons shopping center in late 2020, started running into “major cost issues” and it took the business “three months to get Miracle Whip” at one point last summer, Burger Shop owner Marshall McCarty told the Kane County Chronicle. The cost for cases of French fries has also jumped dramatically.

“‘We have only raised prices once this year. Last year, we had a slight increase in the summer when burger prices were very high. But we have yet to really claw back some of those costs and loss of profit margin. As a small business, we try to absorb as much of that as we can,” he said.
