Bolivia geothermal procurement process loses steam

Bolivia’s state power company Ende has declared void the international call to help determine the future of the 100MW Laguna Colorada geothermal project.

None of the offers fulfilled bidding rule requirements, according to procurement information.

Although the names of groups that submitted proposals for the 130-day contract were not disclosed, BNamericas previously reported that three groups had attended a meeting for the tender.

The consultancy work seeks to evaluate the project’s economic viability within the current and future context of the national and international energy market and decide on its continuity. The work will review the conceptual engineering and technical studies.

This year, Ende plans to complete a 5MW pilot plant (pictured) as part of Laguna Colorada that will supply surrounding communities.
