Mecklenburg County’s Office of Management and Budget Invites Residents to Join Upcoming Participatory Budgeting Information Sessions
Mecklenburg County is hosting a series of information sessions to help residents learn more about its Participatory Budgeting pilot program (PB Meck). The program is designed to allow the community to help identify, discuss, and prioritize public spending projects within County Commission districts.
During the information sessions, participants will have an opportunity to meet the PB Meck team and learn how to submit innovative project ideas that could be funded in the next County budget. Participants will also learn how to join a Volunteer Team or become an Ambassador.
The information sessions are open to the public, and residents may RSVP by clicking on the session links below. Reservations are not required for attendance. Participants are asked to wear a mask and to practice social distancing as part of COVID-19 protocol. Informational material, toolkits and refreshments will be available for all who attend.

Tax Assessor and County Clerk’s Office Extend Application Deadline for the 2023 Citizens Revaluation Advisory Committee to Dec.30
The Mecklenburg County Clerk’s Office, in collaboration with the County Tax Assessor’s Office, has extended the application deadline for the 2023 Citizens Revaluation Advisory Committee to December 30, 2021. Residents interested in contributing to the County’s revaluation process are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Committee is tasked with the responsibility of meeting with the County Assessor, along with County management and staff, to review the overall operations and statistical reports related to the County’s 2023 Revaluation. In addition, the Committee will be responsible for reporting updates and conclusions to the Board of County Commissioners.

County’s Building Development Commission in Need of Applicants
The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners, in collaboration with the County Clerk’s Office, is encouraging residents to apply to serve on the Building Development Commission (BDC).
The Commission reviews, advises and makes recommendations to the Board and the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency (LUESA) regarding land development/ building industry matters; the annual budget of County departments with land development/building regulatory functions; the methodology for establishing and the level of all fees charged; land development/building regulatory programs, processes, plans, and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness, etc. The Commission meets on the third Tuesday of every month.
County residents, especially those in the districts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6, are encouraged to apply by visiting MeckNC.Gov/Clerk or contacting the County Clerk’s Office, at 980-314-2939, or [email protected].

Mecklenburg County Government Encourages Local Students to Participate in Electric Vehicle Decal Competition
Mecklenburg County, in partnership with the City of Charlotte, is sponsoring the Leading the Charge Decal Competition that encourages local college students to design a decal as part of a countywide competition. The winning design will be placed on all county and city owned low emission vehicles, and the designer will be awarded $5000.
To be eligible to compete, students must be attending a college or university in Mecklenburg County, as well as adhere to both County and City design guidelines. Applicants have until January 31, 2022, to submit a design, and the winner will be announced on February 14, 2022.

New Library Mobile App Provides Residents Greater Access to Resources
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library recently launched a new mobile app to make it easier for residents to access the many resources and services it provides countywide. The new, easy-to-use CMLibrary mobile app launched on December 1. The app features an in-app Library Card, branch locations and Library news, ability to browse new releases and staff recommendation lists, upcoming programs and much more!
