Bethel Sets Drive-Thru Distribution Event For COVID-19 Tests

BETHEL, CT — The town will be handing out free COVID-19 self-tests and N95 masks on Sunday, Jan. 2, at Bethel High School.

The drive-thru event will be held at the “Junior Parking Lot,” directly across Whittlesey Drive from DeSantis Stadium (Plumtrees Road entrance) beginning at 11:00 a.m. There will be a limit of one test kit per household from this distribution.

Event organizers have requested residents wear masks and avoid queuing up too early. Bethel police will be on hand to ensure Plumtrees Drive and Whittlesey Drive remain open and accessible.

These test kits are for Bethel residents only, and due to the limited supply, should be prioritized for residents and frontline workers who work directly with the public that are having symptoms of COVID-19 or had a known exposure to COVID19, according to a statement from the Town of Bethel.

The distribution follows the delivery of a reduced number of self-tests this weekend, after an anticipated much larger shipment fell through Wednesday night.
