Finally, a great excuse to fill up that empty space on your wall, courtesy of the Banana Factory.
The arts and education center in Bethlehem is hosting an online silent auction from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday. Thirty items will be available from more than 15 local artists from paintings and prints to handpainted jewelry and glasswork.
There is an auction preview online where you can view the work that will be up for bidding.
At 6 p.m., there’ll be a virtual reception with a few of the artists talking about their work, including painter David Sommers, fiber artist Kim Tanzos, jewelry artist Emily Kitt and printmaker Keith Garubba. All starting bids throughout the auction will be entered into a raffle to win an original work by Garubba.
The auction is being held in support of the many artists who make the Banana Factory what it is, from the Resident Studio artists to the Glass Artists to the Teaching Artists. Much of the arts center’s regular activities came to a halt during the coronavirus pandemic, and many of the artists have felt that impact.
