ASML warns chip bans on China will cause global supply chain upheaval · TechNode

Chip-making equipment provider ASML warned on Wednesday that the global semiconductor supply chain will face major disruption if the US prohibits the firm from selling its mainstream equipment to China, a move Nikkei Asia reported American authorities were considering. “I think we need to realize that China is an important player in the semiconductor industry,” Peter Wennink, CEO of ASML, said on an earnings call on Wednesday. “It is a very significant supplier of the global markets.” Mainland China was the largest single market for ASML in the first quarter this year, with 34% of the firm’s global sales, but that figure dropped to 10% in the second quarter, according to ASML.
