On May 6, 2020, the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) postponed a planned procurement that will eliminate its Regional Behavioral Health Care (RHBA) contracts for services for people with serious mental illness (SMI). AHCCCS intends to issue a competitive contract expansion bid to serve the SMI population for the current Arizona Complete Care (ACC) health plans in the state’s three regions. Through this expansion, AHCCCS intends to select one ACC plan per region for an expanded contract to serve the SMI population currently served by the RBHAs.
