April the sea turtle finds a home among the Scots

April the sea turtle was rescued from entanglement in a ghost net in the Maldives and spent time recuperating at a rehabilitation center before landing a new home at the Sea Life Loch Lomond Aquarium in Scotland. April is the seventh turtle to take part in the Marine Savers’ Flying Turtles program that rescues and relocates turtles. Her 5,000-mile journey to safety began in a padded crate punctured with holes for ventilation, with April lathered in Vaseline to help keep her moist. From start to finish the IAG Cargo team worked with customs in the Maldives and in the U.K. An IAG Cargo representative met April at Heathrow International Airport (LHR) and contacted the Maldives to let them know she was doing fine. April is thriving among the Scottish in Loch Lomond while serving as a daily reminder to all aquarium visitors that slow and steady wins the race.
