Khammam: Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar directs officials to ensure speedy procurement of paddy and maize in the district.
He wanted procurement to be completed in the next 15 to 20 days and to transport grains to the mills. A proper plan has to be prepared for the transportation of grain from fields to procurement centres and then to mills.
The Minister along with District Collector RV Karnan launched paddy procurement centre at Medepalli Kattakur, Madhapuram and Vanamvari Krishnapuram villages on Mudigonda mandals in the district on Saturday.
Ajay Kumar told the in-charges of procurement centres to keep weighing machines, moisture testing machines, gunny bags and tarpaulins available in sufficient numbers. Coupons allotting harvesting machines have to be issued to the farmers.
The State government has allotted Rs 2500 crores for the procurement of maize and Rs 3500 crore for paddy procurement. This year paddy yield in yansangi season was high and entire paddy would be procured, he said.
Collector Karnan harvesters were being allotted to the farmers who have not yet started harvesting. All arrangements for convenience of farmers at the procurement centres set up by IKP an PACS.
Zilla Parishad Chairman L Kamal Raj, DCCB Chairman Kurakula Nagabushanam, Additional Collector N Madhusudhan Rao, district agriculture officer Vijaya Nirmala and others were present.
