Thiruvananthapuram: Mayor Arya Rajendran on Thursday denied permission to BJP councillor P Ashok Kumar during the council meeting to present an adjournment motion seeking council’s representation to the state government to identify land for AIIMS in the city itself.
The mayor said that the corporation had consulted with the government so permission was denied for the adjournment motion.
LDF parliamentary party leader D R Anilkumar said that there was no need to make it into a divisive way of competition among districts as to who gets AIIMS.
Later the discussion soon turned into blame game on how the Centre failed to give allocation for the AIIMS in Kerala and how the state government was trying to take it away from the state capital. TNN
