Robotic vision advancements have had quite the impact on today’s manufacturing and distribution environments, yet still, numerous challenges remain in cluttered workspaces such as random bins in factories and distribution centers or mixed case pallets in warehouses.
On October 14, Jared Glover, CEO, Capsen Robotics, will provide an overview of recent advancements in 3D computer vision software for such environments where clutter is either unavoidable or too expensive to eliminate with special purpose hardware like bowl-feeders or shake tables.
Specifically, Glover will discuss the state of the art in 3D object pose estimation and 3D object detection in clutter, with applications to robotic bin picking, pallet dimensioning, and robotic palletizing and depalletizing. He will discuss bin picking of small, entangled objects and the real-life methods used to accomplish this task, including optimized geometric and machine learning algorithms.
He will also discuss 3D processing, robotic assembly and packaging tasks, integrating multiple bin picking robots in a single line, and techniques for scanning/coverage paths for robotic spraying or painting applications. Following the conclusion of the webcast, the audience will have the opportunity to ask the speakers specific questions.

Jared Glover is the CEO of CapSen Robotics–an AI company working on universal 3d computer vision and motion planning software with a focus on factory and warehouse automation. Their first product (for bin picking) is set to be released this fall. Jared received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from MIT in 2014, where he developed and applied new theoretical tools for processing 3D orientation information to applications in computer vision and robot manipulation.
