Food to go supplier and wholesaler Adelie Foods is to make its five depots and 300 vehicles available to retailers struggling to cope with demand.
The company supplies cafes and convenience stores with own label and branded sandwiches, wraps and salads. BetterRetailing understands the collapse of the foodservice sector this week has left it and nearly all other food to go suppliers severely under capacity as orders from cafes and restaurants plummet.
Adelie Foods is now looking to put this capacity to use to aid the overloaded retail sector. The firm’s supply chain director Andy Redstone explained: “Food retailers are working around the clock to ensure the supply chains keep moving and the shelves remain stocked. We want to do what we can to support those who are working tirelessly to keep our supply chains moving and to ensure the most vulnerable receive the help they need. So, we are opening up our distribution network and warehousing facilities to any business who may be struggling with capacity to deliver at this difficult time.”
Its fleet includes both heavy goods and small fleet vehicles capable of handling frozen, chilled and ambient goods over six out of seven days of the week. Wholesalers and group retailers in need of distribution support should contact – [email protected] or [email protected]
