Addressing Health Equity In The New Preemption Era

Recently, many state legislatures have used preemption to curtail local authority and promote agendas that are detrimental to population health and health equity. Structural change is necessary to empower local governments to address pressing health challenges while preserving states’ ability to displace local authority when a compelling justification supports such intervention.
