Spain Gets State Dept OK for $248.5M AMRAAM Missile Procurement

AMRAAM

The State Department has cleared Spain’s request to buy 100 units of AIM-120C-7/8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles, AMRAAM guidance section and related equipment and support services under a potential $248.5M foreign military sales agreement.

Spain also requested to purchase KGV-135A encryption devices, spare and repair parts, containers, program support, technical documentation and publications, logistics support, U.S. government and contractor engineering and other technical support services under the FMS transaction, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.

Raytheon Technologies’ (NYSE: RTX) missile and defense business will serve as the prime contractor in the transaction that seeks to help the European country increase its AMRAAM stockpile for its fleet of fighter jets to support national defense and counter current and future threats.

DSCA said it notified Congress of the deal Wednesday.
