Cainiao adds new Singapore and Moscow freighter flights

Alibaba logistics arm Cainiao Network has launched new freighter flights to Moscow and Singapore.

The e-commerce logistics specialist said that its flights from Hangzhou to Singapore would improve delivery efficiency to the city state ahead of the Double 11 shopping festival.

The chartered flights will operate four times per week, but it was not revealed which company would operate the service.

Meanwhile, it has also ramped up its operations to Russia, with the introduction of flights from Hong Kong to Moscow.

Cainiao said the move would halve the delivery time for electronic appliances such as smartphones and tablets from around 30 to 15 days.

The company did not reveal which airline would carry out the flights, although it utilises Russia’s Volga-Dnepr Group and Aviastar-TU for flights out of Asia to the country so it is likely to be one of the two.
