Carpentersville’s Sunny Hill school library transformed from ‘book warehouse’ to modern learning center

“Research has shown when young children can see the illustrations and the art on the cover of a book, they will check books out at a higher rate,” Armendariz-Maxwell said. “I’ve already seen a heightened excitement from the students. We’ve also chosen bookcases that are shorter, which allows us to use the tops of these bookcases to display even more books.”
