Food distribution for military families | News

In the region, nearly 25 percent of households receiving food assistance have at least one member who has served or is serving in the military.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania wants to help military families who are struggling to put nutritious food on the table. A distribution of free fresh produce and other grocery products for families who meet household income-qualifying requirements will be held Aug. 18 at 4 p.m. in the parking lot at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, 1045 S. Morgan St., Meadville.

The distribution is for National Guard, reservists, active military, veterans of any branch and their families. Pre-registration is not required. Distribution is on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is a drive-thru distribution only. Recipients must be in a vehicle, wear a mask or face covering, and take photo ID.
