Local church conducts food distribution for needy

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Elim Assembly of God Church held a food distribution today for Corpus Christi residents.

Church staff says the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricane Hanna have caused many hardships for several families across the Coastal Bend and their mission is to help serve those in need.

“We just want to be here for our neighbors, let them know we’re here for them during this pandemic, let them know they’re not alone,” Pastor David Silva said. “I know a lot of people are going through a hard time, a lot of people think a church won’t step up. We just want to let our neighbors know we’re here for them.”

Silva says this is not the first time they have held this type of event and plan on holding more throughout the year.
