Meat wholesaler secures strategic stronghold in the cattle ‘powerhouse’ of north Queensland’s basalt country – Queensland Country Hour

The cattle breeding and fattening potential of the rich, fertile black basalt plains of the Charters Towers district, in north Queensland, are legendary. But according to Chris Greenwood, the new owner of Amarra and Gainsford Stations, it is only one of the strategic advantages the country offer his feedlot and processing operation. Mr Greenwood told the Country Hour’s Charlie McKillop he’s committed to continuing the stewardship that’s left these properties in prime condition, while gaining a stake in an emerging cattle export powerhouse, inland of Townsville.
