No supply chain is safe from slavery, says tsar | News

Some of Britain’s biggest supermarkets and firms are only “paying lip service” to modern slavery and must do more to stop exploitation of the vulnerable, the independent anti-slavery commissioner has said.

Dame Sara Thornton warned that “no supply chain is safe from modern slavery” and that UK based organisations could not afford to be complacent about the threat.

A report from her office says: “While some leading businesses are investing in their supply chains and working hard to understand risk, others are barely paying lip service to minimum legal obligations.”
