The wearable air-con device by Sony is now ready for purchase for ￥13,000 (S$169).
The launch of the device comes after its crowdfunding campaign appeared on July 22, 2019, where it raised S$833,000 in six days.
The hype is understandable because it marks a shift towards personal care and comfort at an unprecedented level.
The portable device, dubbed the Reon Pocket, is a small 85g cooling gadget that can be mounted on the back pocket of a specially-made t-shirt.
The Reon Pocket works by blowing cold or warm air onto the body after it is slotted into the back pocket of a dedicated innerwear.
It is touted to be able to lower the body temperature of the wearer by 13°C (from 36°C to 23°C, for example).
To keep the body warm in the temperate climate, it can raise the temperature by 8.3°C.
The Reon Pocket can be charged via a USB-C port and a single charge allows for a two-hour use.
The temperature of the device can be controlled using a dedicated app.
It comes with three functions — auto mode, my mode, and quick start.
Auto mode detects the wearer’s body’s temperature and condition and automatically adjusts to an appropriate temperature.
The exclusive innerwear with back pouch is sold separately for ¥1,980 (S$26) inclusive of tax, and comes in two colours: White and beige.
The t-shirt is made of polyester fabric to absorb moisture quickly.
The Sony Reon Pocket is sold on Sony Japan and Amazon.co.jp.
It can also be shipped to Singapore via freight and third-party parcel forwarder such as Vpost or Zenmarket.
