Feeding America to hold monthly Hopkinsville food distribution

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Feeding America-Kentucky’s Heartland will hold their monthly USDA commodity food distribution event on Saturday, July 11 from 8-10 a.m. at the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds, 2810 Richard Street in Hopkinsville.

The event is a drive-thru free food distribution for Christian County residents.  Tamara Watts-Hunter, Administrative Assistant with Aaron McNeil House said they are never sure what the food items will be until the day of the distribution.

“In the past the food items have included milk, frozen meats, canned goods, rice and fruit. We order enough food for 700 families at this point and we have increased our numbers dramatically over the past few months to better serve the community during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Watts.

Watts-Hunter added that the food distribution is on a first come first serve basis and everyone is required to have a photo ID or other proof of residency in Christian County, and be prepared to open the trunk of their vehicle and have it cleared to place the food inside.

The free food distribution is held on the second Saturday of each month unless there is a scheduling conflict at the fairgrounds.
