Hannah Bardell said she was concerned to hear Polyframe had been closed without notice after their parent company, Customade Group, went into administration.

Private equity firm Nimbus has stepped in to buy the company’s assets around the country but the Livingston branch – as well as the Halifax branch – is not involved in the takeover.

Nimbus has created a new group comprising the Customade sites which have been saved which will be led by chief executive David Leng.

He told the newspaper: “I am very disappointed for the great staff, suppliers and customers at the Polyframe Halifax and Polyframe Livingston factories.

“These sites were uneconomic to re-open and we were unable to raise funding in these difficult times to restart them.”

In a tweet, Hannah Bardell said: “As the MP for Livingston I take this very seriously and will be writing to all stakeholders & working with Scot Gov on support.

“If you or someone you know has been affected by this, please contact my office at [email protected].”
