A global manufacturer of personal hygiene products earlier this month announced plans for its first U.S. plant in North Carolina.

Ontex Group reached an agreement to acquire the feminine hygiene production assets of Albaad Massuot Yitzhak in Rockingham County, North Carolina, and invest more than $93 million in the area to open its debut facility.

The new plant is expected to open in the middle of 2021. North Carolina officials said more than 400 jobs are expected to be created by 2025.

Ontex, based in Belgium, makes baby care, feminine care, and adult care products, which are sold under the Valor Brands name in North America. Company officials cited the new site’s geographic access to a large share of the U.S. market, as well as the local labor force and government incentives. The company is eligible for nearly $3.1 million under a 12-year state grant, provided it meets its hiring goals.

The acquisition of the Rockingham County assets, including Albaad Massuot Yitzhak’s local production lines, inventory, and intellectual property, is expected to close in July. The company’s current team will join Ontex, the company said.

“With these meaningful steps, we accelerate the execution of our strategic priority to increase our U.S. presence,” Ontex CEO Charles Bouaziz said in a statement.
