Israel Opens Factory To Produce N95 Facemasks

On Sunday, Israeli media outlets reported that the country had opened a factory to make millions of high-spec N95 facemasks in order to be self-reliant during a possible second wave of Covid-19 coronavirus.

Defense Minister Benny Gantz told reporters, “We are preparing for a second wave of the virus. Maintaining a factory that produces high-quality facemasks removes our dependence on foreign factors and contributes to the Israeli economy during a difficult period.”

The factory is located in the southern city of Sderot and is using machines that were imported by the Defense Ministry from China.

Sion Medical Company is the company that will be making the masks. The owner of the firm, Daniel Lev Israeli said that his firm will be able to produce around two million masks per month.

“In the coming weeks the masks that will be used by medical teams will be Israeli N95 masks,” he said.
