Crop Procurement Centres To Function Till June 8

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday announced that the procurement centres will function till June 8. Earlier, the state government has taken the decision to operate procurement centers till May 31. After receiving multiple requests from farmers, the chief minister instructed the officials to continue the functioning of procurement centres till June 8. He has also asked farmers to bring their crops to the procurement centres before the commencement of the monsoon season.

The State government procured 57.22 lakh tonnes of paddy worth Rs 10,490 crore through procurement centers. Similarly, another 7.39 lakh tonnes of maize worth Rs 1,389 crore was procured through 1,097 centers. The state government has set up as many as 7,700 procurement centers across the state.

Earlier, KCR had announced that every grain crop in the state should be procured at the Minimum Selling Price (MSP). He directed the government officials to procure the produce from the village-level without any hassles to farmers amid the lockdown due to coronavirus outbreak.
