On March 21, A new Morocco-France maritime connection dedicated to refrigerated containers entered into service. The new line connects the Moroccan southern city of Agadir and Port-Vendres (France) once a week.
This new shipping line seeks to replace TIR traffic using the Tangier MED port platform with refrigerated containers, loaded with fruits and vegetables, that will depart from the port of Agadir every Saturday and dock at Port-Vendres on Wednesdays.
Before the covid-19 pandemic, exporters in the Sous-Massa Region used land transport services, which offered flexible and door-to-door service. Now exporters prefer maritime transport, which offers a competitive alternative to TIR and competitive quality service from the point of view of price and timing in addition to the fact that it is less harmful to environment, explains the ANP.
According to northafricapost.com, this maritime line will be served by two container ships, “WILHELMINE” and “CONTSHIP BEE”, chartered by CMA.
