Supply of essential items has been hit in the wake of lockdown due to coronavirus affecting the movement of truckers and other transporters.

Amid coronavirus lockdown in the country, supply chain in several districts of Rajasthan has been affected.
Long queues of trucks can be seen at multiple places in Rajasthan and in absence if smooth movement of these supply vehicles, essential commodities are not reaching consumers in time. Even when the items are delivered, insufficient quantity remains the problem.
At several places in Rajasthan, truck owners and drivers have stationed their vehicles alongside roads. They say they have decided to halt their operations due to current situation in the country related to coronavirus pandemic.
Also, due to restrictions imposed because of several states sealing their borders, truck drivers say they are been finding it difficult to cross inter-state borders.
Shankar Singh, a truck driver, said, “We have stopped at Chambal and we have to stay over here only. People should stay where they are, there is no need to run too much. Stay inside your home and protect your children.”
Several parts of Rajasthan, including Dholpur, Karauli, Ajmer, Bharatpur have been affected due to the restrictions imposed on vehicular movement during the lockdown.
In Dholpur, on National Highway 3, which usually witnessed considerable amount of vehicular movement, the movement of trucks and other heavy vehicles has now significantly dropped.
Truck drivers maintained that because of coronavirus, they are not going anywhere and will stay put where they are till normalcy is restored.
