Kuwait MoCI to bear differences in freight cost for import of meat, food items

KUWAIT CITY – The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that it will bear the cost differences in the air and sea freight for the import of meat and other food items during the period of the coronavirus crisis based on the decision of the Cabinet, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a press statement, the ministry explained that this move is aimed to maintaining the market prices without any increase, as well as ensuring continued supply of food necessities for the consumers. These measures come in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, and to ensure suppliers of meat and food items will not incur any losses due to the high freight rates during the current period.

The ministry also confirmed that it receives suppliers at the Commercial Control Department in Al-Siddiq area or they can contact via the email address – [email protected]. It affirmed its keenness to provide all the needs of the country and support the strategic stockpile of goods and supplies.
