CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Orchard Knob Elementary is doing its part to help kids who are out of school.
The school is one location where Hamilton County kids up to the age of 18 can pick up food three times a week.
It’s one more way to make sure the kids are eating, while they are out of class.
LaFrederick Thirkill is the Principal of Orchard Knob Elementary.
“We’ve seen over 150 lunches being provided to students and families as they come through and receive the lunches.”
Some students really depend on these meals.
Principal Thirkill says the food distribution helps make things a little more normal for kids, because they can see cafeteria workers, and the administration at the school.
“For many of those families, they depend on this food to help supplement the food that they have available in the house.”
