Hawley to introduce legislation to secure medical supply chain

Missouri Senator Josh Hawley said he plans to introduce legislation to bring the medical supply chain back to the US.

Hawley said the US is facing a potential shortage of antibiotics and other supplies because the coronavirus has shut down the manufacturing of those things in China.

“It just really exposes how dependent we have become for basic medical supply on China. That shouldn’t be the case. We can’t afford it and it’s time for congress to do something about it,” said Hawley.

Hawley didn’t say exactly how that legislation would change the medical supply chain.
