Live Essex weather updates as Storm Dennis disrupts Dartford Crossing, c2c trains, and more

Storm Dennis has wreaked havoc across Essex, with roads shut and train lines blocked due to strong wind and heavy rainfall.

A yellow weather warning has been in place for most of the weekend, lasting until midnight tonight (Sunday, February 16).

The Dartford Crossing has been closed for more than 12 hours due to strong winds making the QEII Bridge unsafe to cross.

The c2c is also facing problems with overhead signals between Shoeburyness and Southend and Barking and Fenchurch Street.

Meanwhile, trees are down on roads across the county, while Essex Police has urged people not to travel unless absolutely necessary.

Elsewhere in the country, weather warnings have been upgraded to red in Wales, while amber warnings for rain are in place in Kent and Sussex.

We’ll be bringing you the latest on Storm Dennis throughout the rest of the day in our live blog below.
