The Warehouse and Warehouse Stationery chief executive Pejman Okhovat, would become the group’s chief operating officer, while Noel Leeming chief executive Tim Edwards would be the group’s chief sales officer.

The company said the removal of the roles and move to a flatter leadership structure, dubbed ‘agile’, reflected the state of the group.

“The future will be dominated by an ever-increasing pace of change and traditional structures are too slow to provide a flexible platform to react at pace to changing customer dynamics,” group chief executive Nick Grayston said.

“As part of an agile way of working The Warehouse Group head office will move from a more traditional hierarchical structure to one that involves co-located self-managing teams empowered to deliver for rapidly evolving customer needs.”

The leadership changes were immediate, but the agile structure would be rolled out from August.

No changes would be made to its retail brand Torpedo7, which was undergoing a turnaround, nor its recently launched online retail store TheMarket.
