A driver stopped in San Jose on Highway 880 with a little more than 66 pounds of methamphetamines has been charged with possession with intent to distribute, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
In a news released published Friday, the office said Jesus Moises Rochin-Huerta was pulled over by a California Highway Patrol officer who noticed a missing front license plate and tinted front windows. Rochin-Huerta allegedly appeared nervous and had two cellphones, so the officer conducted “an open-air sniff” of the car with a drug dog, according to the release.
The dog indicated it had found something and in the trunk there were two duffle bags with vacuum-sealed and plastic-wrapped bags of meth. The 66.4 pounds of meth are estimated to have a street value of $72,000 to $81,000.
If convicted, Rochin-Huerta faces 10 years to life in prison.
