Tremont Nail Factory ‘pickling building’ could get new life in Wareham – News – Wicked Local Wareham

WAREHAM – The “pickling building” at the Tremont Nail Factory may be getting a new resident – one who plans to fix up the building and operate a business there.

Tremont Woodworking LLC is proposing renovating the building at the 200-year-plus historic nail factory site for an estimated cost of $150,000 in labor and materials, said Planning Director Ken Buckland at the Wareham Redevelopment Authority meeting Tuesday night.

Jarad Lemieux, the owner of Tremont Woodworking, has been working as a frame-to-finish carpenter for over 20 years, and his company does custom work for residential and business clients.

In his proposal to the town, Lemieux said his company is looking for a 10-year-long-term lease option for the building – in essence, the renovations in exchange for no or low cost rent.

“The nostalgia and location is ideal for a custom reclaimed woodshop,” the proposal states. “Our goal is to preserve the historic building or buildings, in hopes to retain the character, charm and history.”
