Unilever and JD Logistics to develop a sustainable supply chain

Food products giant Unilever is to work with Chinese 3PL JD Logistics to provide sustainable business initiatives in the supply chain.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding they are to create a framework to identify opportunities for innovation and sustainable growth.

The two companies aim to reduce the use of plastic and support sustainable practices in the supply chain.

The companies will also explore opportunities to digitise the “Unilever-JD” system which will include recycling packaging, 5G delivery solutions and the development of “less carbon intense transportation”.

Unilever chief supply chain officer Marc Engel said: “Today’s agreement with JD Logistics is an excellent opportunity to drive future-fit supply chain solutions around the world.”
