SEAFORD – Intense fire Wednesday morning razed a large structure, a multi-alarm blaze that drew firefighting response from at least nine Delaware and Maryland departments.

Seaford Volunteer Fire Department responded to the alarm at about 7 a.m. in the Shipley Street and Harrington Street area.

Firefighters and equipment from Laurel, Blades, Bridgeville, Delmar, Greenwood, Millsboro, Ellendale and Federalsburg responded in the call for assistance.

The Sussex County Emergency Operation Center’s Mobile Command Unit also was also on scene.

City Manager Charles Anderson believes the structure was used for warehousing.
